johnny is an extremely (secretly) kind man, but he's the farthest thing from nice you could ever expect to see.  john puts on a front of a badass, hair - trigger tempered, cruel man, and while the first two are true, john is plagued with extreme self - loathing and is an incredibly loving and fiercely loyal individual.  it's rare to be given a glimpse of that soft, saccharine - sweet core of his, but it's there, and when he trusts someone, he isn't afraid to show it.

THE KARATE KID.   johnny stopped pursuing ali after the beach fight.  about a week after that, he asks heather duke out on their first date,  despite knowing full well she was (publicly) dating gregory roy.   he's smitten with her instantly.   they begin dating secretly.  johnny also falls in love with daniel,  but he refuses to unpack those feelings.THE KARATE KID.     despite spending most of his time training with cobra kai and playing on the soccer team,  johnny finds himself dared by his friend meg giry into joining her ballet classes.   john and meg quickly find out that the discipline and body control that john cultivated in karate translates excellently to ballet.THE KARATE KID, PART II.     after being kicked out of cobra kai,  johnny finds himself seeking solace in ballet,  without telling any of his friends — and least of all, his stepfather — where he's spending his free time.SEASON 2,  EPISODE 9.     johnny does not ask carmen out on the date,  instead choosing to take his ex - girlfriend,  now best friend,  heather out to celebrate his birthday.   when daniel and amanda arrive,  taking the table next to them,  johnny doesn't correct amanda when she assumes they're on a date,  just in an effort to spite daniel & make him jealous.   heather corrects her later in the bathroom.

SEASON 2,  EPISODE 8.     while amanda pulls daniel onto the dance floor,  johnny attempts to rebuff heather's request for a dance,  until she calls him out for his past as a ballet dancer.   heather does her best to teach john how to dance,  but at some point the women manage to get the boys to dance together instead.   it's the first time john's ever had fun dancing.SEASON 2,  EPISODE 8.   outside the restaurant,  daniel and johnny call a truce.   he holds his hand out for a shake,  and while john plays along at first,  he then impulsively pulls daniel in for a kiss instead   —   and is incredibly shocked to find it reciprocated.   it's the first kiss he'd ever describe as electric,  and even if it's not the best first kiss,  it's perfect for him  —  for them.   johnny decides he'll never talk about it again,  writing it off as a drunken mistake on daniel's part.   he doesn't forget it.SEASON 3,  EPISODE 8.     instead of carmen appearing at johnny's door,  it's daniel,  impressed with his performance and candidness at the meeting,  and having worked out his feelings for johnny.   he's shocked  —  why wouldn't he be?  —  but all of his pent - up emotions and yearning for daniel from the last almost 40 years win over,  and he embraces daniel without hesitation.   daniel fucks johnny that night,  the first of many times to come.   ( john thinks it might just be the best sex he's ever had.   he wants it to happen again.   and again. )

SEASON 3,  EPISODE 9.     john wakes up to find himself being spooned by daniel fucking larusso,  and finds that he doesn't mind it at all.   there's a pressing question on their minds  —  where do we go from here?  —  before daniel explains that he's already spoken to amanda about his feelings for johnny.   johnny happily agrees to daniel's suggestion that they go steady  —  despite his jealousy at having to share daniel with amanda.SEASON 5,  EPISODE 3.     carmen tells johnny she's pregnant from their one - night stand when he and daniel had broken up just before the all - valley.   john promises to step up for their child,  planning to be a present father.   (he also insists that the wants daniel ot be a part of the baby's life as well.)SEASON 5,  EPISODE 5.     after amanda takes the kids to ohio and leaves daniel behind,  the beginnings of a larusso divorce are set into motion.SEASON 5,  EPISODE 10.     at the reunion in front of cobra kai,  john stumbles out of the limo,  and makes a beeline to daniel.   for the first time in public,  he kisses daniel repeatedly,  overcome with love and relief at his safety.   john tells daniel,  for the first time,  that he loves him.   this is where the students   (minus their children)   learn about john and daniel's relationship.

AUGUST 2023.    daniel takes johnny to the beach where they first met.   john thinks they're just going on a date,  but daniel surprises him with a proposal.   daniel and johnny are officially engaged.SEPTEMBER 2023.     after a year of searching,  johnny and daniel have finally settled on a new home :  a house on the outskirts of encino.   it's a large house,  a five - bedroom home and a decent backyard.   this house has a room for sam,  robby,  and a nursery for rafael,  as well as a guest room for when lucille or any cousin visit.   the attic is turned into a hangout / room for anthony.SEPTEMBER 2023.     rafael christian diaz is born.   daniel and johnny are the primary caretakers,  though they're very happily co-parenting with a very involved carmen.

FEBRUARY 2024.    after the death of her mother, daniel and johnny are granted emergency foster parent status of lexy cross, being her teachers.   the lawrence - larusso home is a perfect fit for lexy, and it's only a matter of weeks before john and daniel start batting around the idea of adopting lexy into their family legally.JULY 2024.     without telling any of their friends or extended family,   daniel and johnny schedule a marriage ceremony at the courthouse.   the only witnesses in attendance are their children   —   sam, robby, anthony, rafael, miguel, and lexy.   johnny legally changes his name to john larusso.

FUTURE.     the sekai taikai,  four - legged addition,  college - bound.

MIYAGI - FANG. ..preparing for the sekai taikai,  an international karate competition,  john lawrence is now co - sensei of the miyagi - fang dojo (name pending),  with his former nemesis - turned - love of his life,  daniel larusso.   a near - death experience at the hands of terry silver now behind them,  the two are comfortable as partners in karate as in life,  and are gearing up to start the next chapter in this little karate war of theirs.

FOUR TIME ALL - VALLEY CHAMP. ..diverging from the first film,  johnny directly disobeys kreese's order to sweep daniel's leg,  and chooses to fight with honor,  trusting his own strength and talent rather than cheap shots.   john wins the tournament,  but is still kicked out of cobra kai for daring to go against his sensei.   he and daniel become quick friends,  then boyfriends — which works perfectly fine for johnny until john kreese ends up dead,  and terry silver wants to show him "what cobra kai was meant to be",  and daniel and mr. miyagi's store is terrorized by mike barnes + his cronies.

LAWRUSSO AU. ..diverging from the events of karate kid pt ii,  john reaches out to daniel at the hospital after the match,  to apologize directly.   it's short work from there for the two to become best friends,  and john finds himself falling in love with daniel,  despite being in a relationship with heather.   after graduation,  he and heather split and johnny only grows closer to daniel — confessing in a long phone call while daniel's in okinawa.   having found the love of his life,  johnny finds himself in daniel's corner when he has to fight against mike barnes and terry silver.   the two make a life together,  becoming engaged in the 90's,  and raising two children through surrogates — antonio and lauren larusso,  before marrying in 2013.   they open a dojo together,  where johnny teaches the little kids,  and daniel works with teenagers.   he's never been happier in his life.

ALT KARATE KID. ..a rewrite of the franchise,  seeing laura moving to new jersey,  close to her new york family,  after her divorce from johnny's father,  when john was only two years old.   laura had become fast friends with neighbors lucille and antonio larusso,  and her painfully shy child became instant best friends with their son,  daniel.   for as long as johnny can remember,  he and daniel have been inseparable,  best friends their whole lives.   when lucille gets a job in the valley  —   california?   —   laura decides it's time for a new start for her & her son as well   ...   and both moms have long agreed that they couldn't separate the boys.   in reseda,  johnny's quick to adapt,  getting a spot on the soccer team,  making friends with the hockey team  —  maybe he'll join that too  —  and becoming pretty popular with the ladies   (being the only openly gay boy at school certainly didn't hurt the latter),  while daniel has a bit of a harder time,  ultimately leading to him being attacked on halloween,  and barely saved by mr. miyagi in time.   the boys' friendship is tested when john grows closer to the cobra kai boys via their shared membership on the soccer team,  daniel's entry into the all - valley under 18 tournament where he's meant to go up against cobra kai's top student,  dutch,  and daniel and john's blossoming relationship, over a decade in the making.

ALT COBRA KAI. ..a rewrite of the television series,  picking up 34 years after the first karate kid film.   after yasmine crashes into johnny's car,  he finds himself at larusso auto awaiting repairs on his precious firebird.   but they can't just leave the past in the past,  and larusso's smug face lights a fire in john,  daniel provoking johnny into throwing the first punch.   they don't fight on the showroom floor,  of course not,  but an argument in daniel's office turns into the two throwing punches again turns into john bent over daniel's desk getting railed within inches of his life.   if they only knew how to leave things well enough alone,  they wouldn't be left in this sticky  — pun unintended —  situation of theirs,  caught up in unspoken feelings,  and daniel caught between his wife and his karate rival that he can't stop thinking about.   with a tenuous relationship starting,  john approaches daniel upfront about the possibility of reopening cobra kai,  before the two work out their own plan  —  they'll open their own dojo together,  there's gotta be more kids than miguel who needs their help,  and two heads are always better than one.

THEATRE. ..john lawrence is a fairly well - known director,  successful in his own right,  and a very successful former child actor,  but downright gifted as a choreographer (both fight & dance).   he's often known for his collaboration with actor daniel larusso,  whom he often claims to be the 'bane of his existence'.   from their first show on, wherever one goes,  the other follows — after their first meeting,  they've yet to do a show apart.   because of the (consenusal) violence inherent in john and daniel's relationship,  there are rumors that john is an abusive partner,  or that he's possessive  —  both of which couldn't be further from the truth.   following a violent altercation with producer terrence silver,  john is blacklisted from working,  and begins to lean on alcohol in this dark time of his career and life.

— in high school verse,  john is an AP chemistry + AP physics teacher,  known for both his unconventional teaching methods,  and his rivalry with the history teacher across the hall,  daniel larusso.   he, along with larusso,  is one of the faculty running the drama club,  handling the stage crew and set construction.
— in college verse,  john is the technical director for a college's theatre department,  and an adjunct teaching stage combat once a year.   he also teaches karate classes on - campus twice a week.   he's incredibly happy with his life,  until new teacher daniel larusso walks into his scene shop.

STRANGER THINGS. ..hawkins feels like a weird place for a hollywood television producer to have his second home,  but if sid weinberg wants to keep his living conditions on the down low,  who is john to try and stop him?   the plot of karate kid proceeds as canon,  while john finds himself working as a handyman at blackbeard's diner,  and not so slowly falling in love with newly minted best friend daniel larusso in the process.

CRIMINAL MINDS. ..john's a cop who's incredibly  —  and intentionally  —  bad at his job.   he hates every aspect of it,  and only pursued the career path at the insistence of sid.   john's known for three things :   * being drunk on the job.   * letting the kids get away with every misdemeanor under the sun.   * the lack of fear in calling out his fellow cops for fucking up.   he's lost nearly all meaning in his life  —  outside of his six - year old son robby,  and his newfound friendship with fbi agent daniel larusso,  who may just be the single most neurotic person he's ever met.   and he loves it.

TED LASSO. ..in the face of being kicked from cobra kai after his crushing loss to daniel larusso,  john buries himself in his remaining extracurriculars :   ballet and soccer.   john falls out of ballet,  choosing to place the brunt of his focus on soccer,  catching the attention of scouts and fans alike.   once he decides to go pro,  however,  he knows there's no way he can do it alone :   he enlists now - friend daniel larusso as his agent,  throwing them both into an extremely steep learning curve   ...   and maybe finding a little bit more in the process.   now a retired player and father,  john larusso finds himself a close friend of afc richmond's new coaches — able to offer another bridge between the football coach and his sport   ...   the american player's perspective,  if you will.

BRIDGERTON. ..john lawrence is the husband to shannon lawrence,  the father of robert lawrence.   it's no secret that the marriage is an unhappy one, that there's an animosity both within the lawrence family,  and with the larusso family alike,  john and shannon both keen on drink,  and john and daniel  —  once close friends,  with a very heavy fallout at some point.   deep behind closed doors,  however,  john and daniel find love and solace together,  as they always have,  expressing love with fists and intimacy  —  hidden from society, and their families alike.

WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS. ..johnny lawrence was turned into a werewolf when he was twelve years old.   johnny's twenty - two when his first son,  robby,  is born ... a werewolf.   robby's three when he meets miguel diaz,  a young wolf.  johnny's twenty - seven when his second son,  rafael diaz,  is born ...   a werewolf.   when john meets daniel larusso,  familiar to terrence silver,  john is the alpha of his own pack  —  consisting of his former cobra kai teammates,  their wives,  their kids,  as well as miguel & his mother,  and julie pierce.   for better or for worse,  john's gained a bit of a reputation for being a merciless vampire killer   ...   the treaty dictates one - on - one combat,  and,  well.   he doesn't leave business unfinished.   despite this,  john falls tits - over - ass for larusso,  regardless of his vampire — and werewolf — hunter nature,  and his training in regards to both.

THE LAST OF US. ..when the world begane to shut down,  the larussos went east,  with a young son and an infant daughter.   they've found themselves living in jackson,  daniel now a teacher,  and john being part of maria's patrol,  finding himself more than willing to scope out the interlopers that come by.   his family was welcomed,  he'll do anything for the chance to help others with the same position ;   he'll do anything to keep his family safe.
